Michigan Cannabis Sales Hit New Record in March 2024
LOS ANGELES- The Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) announced a new record in adult-use cannabis sales for March 2024, totaling $286.8 million. This figure represents 99% of the state’s cannabis sales, with flower products leading at $131.4 million. Vape cartridges followed with $54.4 million in sales, $33.9 million in inhalable concentrates, and edibles at $26.3 million.
Regionally, the east/southeast area of Michigan reported the highest sales at nearly $129 million, with the southwest and Wayne regions trailing at approximately $79 million and $32 million respectively. The state has a robust infrastructure with 785 licensed retailers and extensive cultivation operations, including 260 processors and various cultivator classes.
In contrast, medical cannabis sales have continued to decline, totaling only $2.1 million from 213 provisioning centers in March. Michigan hosts 107,040 medical cannabis cardholders, reflecting a diverse range of medical conditions predominantly treated with cannabis, led by chronic pain.
Despite these impressive sales figures, the CRA and Michigan State Police have also been active in seizing illegal cannabis products, confiscating over 14,000 plants and more than 11,000 pounds of flower in recent operations.
The financial impact of these sales is significant, with the Michigan Department of Treasury allocating cannabis tax revenue to local municipalities, education, and transportation, demonstrating the fiscal benefits of the legal cannabis industry.
This record-setting performance not only underscores the growing demand for legal cannabis in Michigan but also highlights the state’s effective regulatory and fiscal management of the industry.
