New York State Regulators Finalize Cannabis Home Cultivation Rules
NEW YORK – Following the implementation of regulations by state officials, qualified patients and their designated caregivers can start growing cannabis at home the following month.
The state now permits registered patients and caregivers to grow a limited amount of marijuana on their own private premises. No more than three mature plants and three immature plants may be grown by a single patient. No more than six mature plants and six immature plants may be grown by caregivers who are caring for many patients at once.
On October 5, 2022, the new regulations will come into force. Nearly a year ago, state regulators first declared their intention to permit constrained house growth.
The state’s medical cannabis access program currently has about 125,000 New Yorkers registered.
The Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA), a distinct piece of legislation that legalizes and controls adult marijuana possession and sales, was enacted by state legislators in 2021. Regulators have just lately started to accept applications from people looking to set up retail cannabis establishments.
