Optimi Goes Down Under with New Australian Subsidiary

VANCOUVER / SYDNEY – Optimi Health Corp., a commercial-stage pharmaceutical developer and manufacturer of regulated psychedelic drug products, announced the establishment of Optimi Australia Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary responsible for distribution and business development in Australia.

Optimi Australia will handle the company’s sales, distribution, and prescriber relationships across the country, selling its finished drug products [naturally derived 5mg psilocybin capsules and MDMA capsules in 40mg and 60mg formulations] to clinics and pharmacies under Australia’s Authorised Prescriber Scheme. All products are manufactured at Optimi’s Health Canada-licensed GMP facility in Princeton, British Columbia.

Adrian Jones, the newly appointed Director of Australian Operations, comes to the role with deep roots in Australian pharmaceutical commercialization. He spent more than fifteen years at Bristol Myers Squibb, most recently serving as Associate Director and Head of Sales and Marketing for its Australian oncology and cardiovascular portfolios, where he led national commercial teams and served as launch lead for first-in-class therapies including Opdivo and Camzyos. His earlier career includes psychiatry-focused roles at Eli Lilly and Hospira.

“Australia is our first commercial market and we believe demand from authorized prescribers there continues to grow,” said Dane Stevens, CEO of Optimi. “Optimi Australia puts our team on the ground, and in Adrian we have a leader with extensive experience launching new therapies in this market.”

The subsidiary formalizes a commercial presence that Optimi has been building incrementally. The company launched psilocybin capsules in Australia for treatment-resistant depression in September 2025, with export completed following clearance from Health Canada, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), and the BICON Biosecurity Authority. That launch followed Optimi’s introduction of MDMA to Australian patients for PTSD treatment in October 2024, making two finished psychedelic drug products commercially available under a government-sanctioned prescription framework. Products have been accessible through authorized partner Mind Medicine Australia.

On the research front, Optimi holds a Health Canada-approved Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating psilocybin-assisted therapy for major depressive disorder and is advancing plans for a Phase 3 study on MDMA-assisted therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Establishing a legal entity with in-country staff is not a routine step for a company at Optimi’s current stage. It typically reflects a conviction that local volume justifies the ongoing overhead. Given Jones’s background in oncology, cardiovascular health, and psychiatry product launches at a major pharmaceutical company suggests the hire is not a placeholder, but rather a decision related to commercial infrastructure.

Australia has spent roughly two years demonstrating that regulated psychedelic prescribing can function within an existing healthcare system, and the real-world evidence dataset accumulating there is becoming a reference point for the rest of the industry. Optimi just committed to operating from inside rather than watching from abroad.
