Dutchie Launches Round Up the Change for Cannabis Justice
BOSTON – Dutchie, the Cannabis e-commerce and point-of-sale platform, has rolled out Round Up the Change, a straightforward new feature that lets customers turn pocket change into support for Cannabis justice reform and legalization.
The program prompts shoppers at participating dispensaries [whether in-store or online] to round up their total to the nearest dollar during checkout. The extra cents go directly to nonprofit partners including Mission Green, Last Prisoner Project, the U.S. Cannabis Roundtable, and the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association. These organizations focus on clemency petitions, record expungement, sentencing adjustments, reentry programs, and broader efforts to undo the damage of past Cannabis prohibition.
The setup is free for retailers, who can toggle the option in Dutchie’s back office, and customers always have the choice to opt out with a single tap or click. Dutchie handles more than one million transactions daily across thousands of retailers that generate over $22 billion in yearly sales, giving the feature real potential to accumulate meaningful funds through widespread, low-friction contributions.
Several major retailers joined as early adopters, seeing the tool as a seamless fit with the industry’s community-oriented ethos. The initiative builds on Dutchie’s earlier rounding efforts, channeling everyday purchases toward systemic change without asking anyone for large donations.
