LOS ANGELES — Welcome to the far too-exciting world of cannabis and psychedelics, where it’s a tale of two markets with some states doing amazingly well. And some, well…they’re not doing so well (hello New York). Let’s get to it!

Cannabis Industry Highlights

1#) Boston Beer Company Expands Cannabis Beverage Portfolio: The Boston Beer Company, through its Canadian subsidiary BBCCC Inc., has announced the expansion of its cannabis-infused beverage offerings for the summer season. The company introduced a new TeaPot Rosin-Infused Lemon Black Iced Tea and two additional flavors in its Emerald Hour line of non-alcoholic cannabis cocktails.

2#) Cronos Group Reports First Quarter 2025: Cronos Group Inc. reported its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2025, indicating a net revenue of $32.3 million, a 28% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The growth was primarily driven by higher cannabis flower sales in international markets, notably Israel, and increased cannabis extract sales in Canada.

3#) THC Design Repositions for National Expansion: THC Design, a California-based cannabis company, has undertaken a comprehensive rebranding initiative in collaboration with New York creative studio Super Okay. The effort aims to transition the company from a regional entity to a national presence in the cannabis industry.

4#) The Hemp Surge: A Growing Challenge to Regulated Cannabis: The legal line between hemp and cannabis in the U.S., drawn by the 2018 Farm Bill, was meant to clarify regulation. Instead, it created a set of inconsistencies that still affect how businesses operate, how laws are enforced, and how states build cannabis policy.

5#) Navigating Local Cannabis Regulations: A State-by-State Guide: Cannabis regulation in the United States functions as a multi-layered governance system, where legal authority is distributed across federal, state, and local levels—with local jurisdictions exerting the most immediate control over real-world operations. While public and investor attention often centers on statewide legalization milestones, the practical determinants of market access—zoning approvals, permitting procedures, license caps, and land-use compatibility—remain firmly within the domain of municipal and county governments.

6#) TerrAscend Expands New Jersey Presence with Acquisition of Union Chill Dispensary: TerrAscend Corp., a North American cannabis operator, has entered into an agreement to acquire Union Chill Cannabis Company LLC, a single-location dispensary in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. This acquisition marks TerrAscend’s fourth dispensary in the state and expands its retail footprint to 39 locations across five U.S. states and Canada.

7#) Fergus Falls City Council Approves Cannabis Dispensary Permits After Reversal: the Fergus Falls City Council reversed its earlier decision and approved interim permits for two cannabis dispensaries, Sugar High and Elevate. The initial denial was based on concerns that the dispensaries were within 250 feet of local parks, potentially violating city ordinances regarding proximity to areas frequented by minors.

8#) Maine Considers Stricter Medical Cannabis Regulations: Maine lawmakers are evaluating two legislative proposals aimed at enhancing safety standards within the state’s medical cannabis program. The bills, LD 104 and LD 1847, seek to introduce mandatory testing for contaminants and implement seed-to-sale tracking systems. While proponents argue these measures are necessary for consumer protection, small-scale growers express concerns over potential financial burdens.

1#) Cybin CEO to Discuss Medical Innovation at Milken Institute Global Conference: Cybin Inc. a neuropsychiatry company, announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Doug Drysdale, will participate in a panel discussion at the 28th Annual Milken Institute Global Conference. The panel, titled “The Global Landscape and Opportunities for Medical Breakthroughs,” is scheduled for May 5, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. PDT at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
