LONDON-VANCOUVER – Village Farms International Inc. was named Producer of the Year at the 2026 Business of Cannabis Awards, held on May 26 in London’s Shoreditch following the opening day of Cannabis Europa Conference at the Barbican.

The honor, sponsored by Loomis Pharma, recognizes excellence and innovation in Cannabis cultivation practices, techniques, and product quality, with particular weight given to demonstrated performance in sustainability, regulatory compliance, and supply chain integrity.

Village Farms beat out a shortlist that included Aurora Cannabis, Northern Leaf, Dalgety, Green Karat, and Somaí Pharmaceuticals – a field that reflects the caliber of cultivation operations now operating across the European and Commonwealth markets.

The company has been building its export infrastructure since 2021, and currently holds top-selling cultivar positions in Germany, which remains the continent’s most closely watched medical Cannabis market. Beyond Germany, the company has active supply relationships in the United Kingdom, Israel, Australia, and New Zealand – markets that share one critical requirement: verified EU-GMP certification at every point in the supply chain.

In the Netherlands, Village Farms operates through wholly-owned subsidiary Leli Holland, one of only ten licensed operators in the country’s regulated Cannabis program. Its Phase II facility there is expected to ramp to full capacity before year-end, a build-out the company projects will quintuple its total Dutch production to roughly 10 metric tons annually.

On the Canadian side, a Delta 2 greenhouse expansion is expected to add approximately 40 metric tons of annualized production capacity once fully completed in 2027, representing a roughly 33% increase to current domestic output.

The Business of Cannabis Awards, now in their third year and organized by Prohibition Partners and Cannabis Europa, drew nearly 250 entries from eight countries in 2026 – the largest submission pool since the inaugural event in 2024. Village Farms shared the evening with other category winners including Curaleaf International [European Company of the Year], Bloomwell Group [Consumer Technology Provider of the Year], and VIST Labs [AgriTech Provider of the Year].

Village Farms’ broader brand portfolio spans Pure Sunfarms, Fraser Valley Weed Co., Soar, Super Toast, Pure Laine, Tam Tams, and Promenade in Canada, while its U.S. footprint includes CBDistillery, one of the country’s more established cannabinoid wellness platforms. The company also holds equity stakes in Cannabis businesses in Australia and Germany.

The Producer of the Year distinction adds a third-party benchmark to a business that has been executing consistently on a capital-disciplined international expansion. For operators watching the European medical market, Village Farms’ ability to combine large-scale EU-GMP capacity with active regulatory engagement across multiple jurisdictions represents a model worth tracking, particularly as enforcement pressure continues to tighten supply standards continent-wide. The company’s stated intention to enter additional international markets before year-end suggests this award may be less a capstone than a data point in a longer run.
