Metrc Rolls Out Compliance Events for New York Cannabis Operators

NEW YORK – Track-and-trace provider Metrc announced a pair of statewide User Exchange events in New York, one in New York City on September 14 and another in Syracuse on September 16, designed to help Cannabis licensees sharpen their compliance practices and extract greater operational value from the state’s seed-to-sale tracking system.

The events will bring together Cannabis businesses, technology partners, and industry experts for discussions focused on compliance, operational excellence, and how to treat regulated market data as a strategic asset, not a reporting requirement. Both sessions are free to attend. Registration is currently open for both through Metrc’s New York User Exchange page.

The New York gatherings are part of Metrc’s fourth annual User Exchange season, which opened in Massachusetts in March 2026 and has since made stops in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Oregon. The series brings complimentary educational events to the markets Metrc serves, offering attendees a mix of educational sessions, peer networking, and direct engagement with the Metrc team. California, Nevada, and Colorado are still on the calendar before the year closes.

For New York specifically, the events carry particular weight. After months of regulatory uncertainty, New York Cannabis operators completed a transition to Metrc following the state’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) determination that the switch would better serve New York’s Cannabis market – a conclusion reached after BioTrack and Metrc merged and the OCM conducted a comprehensive review.

The upcoming events mark the second time Metrc has provided in-person education and training opportunities in New York, building on the momentum of a five-part Summer Webinar Series that covered key compliance and operational topics for licensees following the December go-live.

Metrc currently holds 30 regulatory contracts and serves more than 500,000 users, including growers, testing facilities, dispensaries, state regulators, and law enforcement officials. That breadth gives the company a detailed view of where operators across the country struggle to get full value from their track-and-trace systems. And that institutional knowledge is precisely what Metrc says it aims to share through the User Exchange format.

New York’s legal Cannabis market now counts more than 2,000 licensed operators across cultivation, distribution, processing, and retail – with over half of all business licenses statewide issued to social-equity applicants. The market is still working through the structural growing pains that define early-stage regulatory systems: compliance costs, illicit competition, and the challenge of turning operational compliance into competitive advantage.
