Planet 13 Expands Florida Footprint

LAS VEGAS – Planet 13 Holdings Inc., a vertically integrated Cannabis operator with cultivation, production, and retail operations in four states, launched its latest medical Cannabis outlet in DeLand, Florida. The store, situated in the city’s downtown district, marks the company’s 33rd location in the state and its 37th across the United States.

The DeLand site, opened on October 13, will cater to local patients year-round. Located near Stetson University and along the high-traffic Interstate 4 corridor that links Orlando and Daytona Beach, the dispensary targets residents from surrounding areas like Deltona and Orange City. Company executives highlighted the spot’s visibility in a bustling shopping zone as a key draw for delivering their range of products and service standards.

“This addition strengthens our network in a region with steady demand for quality medical options,” said Bob Groesbeck, co-chief executive officer of Planet 13. The firm, which also runs facilities in California, Nevada, and Illinois, maintains a vertically integrated model that covers everything from growing to sales. In Florida, where medical Cannabis has been legal since 2016 but recreational use remains off the table, Planet 13 now operates amid a field of over 20 licensed providers vying for market share.

Data from the Florida Department of Health Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) shows the state’s medical Cannabis patient count surpassing 917,000 as of Q2 2025, up from 700,000 the prior year, reflecting consistent growth despite regulatory hurdles like strict packaging rules and limited home-grow provisions. Planet 13’s push here aligns with broader industry trends, where established operators consolidate presence in mature markets to offset rising cultivation costs, estimated at 20-30% higher than in 2023 due to supply chain pressures.

A formal grand opening event is set for November 15, featuring local vendors and special promotions.
For now, customers can order ahead via the company’s website.

This move underscores Planet 13’s disciplined approach to scaling in Florida, a market ready for adult-use sales. Yet it also spotlights the sector’s core challenge: federal restrictions that cap interstate expansion and financing. Planet 13’s steady store rollouts as a pragmatic bet on patient loyalty over flashy diversification, potentially bolstering margins if voter initiatives for broader access gain traction in 2026.
