North Carolina Voters Show Strong Support for Medical Cannabis Legalization
LOS ANGELES- A recent poll indicates that a significant majority of North Carolina voters favor the legalization of medical cannabis, with substantial backing across political affiliations. The survey reveals that 45% of respondents “strongly” support medical cannabis legalization, while 26% “somewhat” support it. In contrast, 9% “somewhat” oppose, and 14% are “strongly” opposed to the reform. An additional 6% remain undecided.
Notably, support transcends political lines:
- Republicans: 62.3% in favor
- Democrats: 78.3% in favor
- Unaffiliated voters: 73.3% in favor
Even among those identifying as “very conservative,” 62% support medical cannabis legalization, while 35.8% oppose it.
The only demographic without majority support is individuals aged 80 and above, where 40.7% favor legalization, 44.4% oppose, and 14.8% are undecided. This group also has the highest percentage (29.6%) of strong opposition.
Despite this public support, North Carolina remains among the states without legalized medical cannabis. As of now, 38 states have legalized medical cannabis use.
