Sale Of Recreational Cannabis Underway Across Arizona
PHOENIX – Medical cannabis dispensaries can now get licensed for recreational cannabis licenses, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Voters passed Proposition 207 in November, legalizing the sale and possession of recreational cannabis in Arizona. The sale of recreational marijuana will be through establishments that already had a license for the sale of medical marijuana, according to the ADHS. There are 123 medical marijuana facilities across the state.
According to an ADHS spokesperson, the department of health services received 79 applications since the application period began early Jan. 20. Six applications remain under review. All other applications have been approved.
Three applications were approved in Chandler—at Azgm 3 Inc., Border Health Inc. and Total Health & Wellness Inc.—according to the ADHS. One application was approved in Gilbert at Absolute Health Care Inc. Total Health & Wellness Inc. was listed in the licenses twice, it was not immediately clear if that was for two different locations or an error.
The city of Chandler and town of Gilbert have already issued rules for the sale and use of cannabis in the city and town limits.
