Cantourage Locks In Green Karat as EU-GMP Certified Supplier
BERLIN – Cantourage Group SE has announced an expanded supply agreement with Canadian craft producer Green Karat, following the company’s receipt of EU-GMP certification, effective October 1, 2026. Under the arrangement, Cantourage serves as Green Karat’s exclusive distribution partner across the European Union and the United Kingdom.
As a sponsor and certification partner throughout the EU-GMP process, Cantourage will now replicate this role with other international producers. The company said additional certifications are in progress and expected to be completed before the end of 2026.
EU-GMP approval is a regulatory prerequisite for selling medical Cannabis in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Australia. With the certification in place, Cantourage can now import finished products manufactured by Green Karat directly from Canada in accordance with EU-GMP standards, which can help make products available to pharmacies across Europe sooner after harvest.
Founded by Paul-Eric Taisne and Jen-Frederick Nadeau, and licensed by Health Canada since 2020, Green Karat focuses on hand-trimmed, craft products that it sells in Canada, the EU, the UK, Israel, and Australia. The EU-GMP certification removes a structural barrier that had limited how directly the company could serve European patients.
Green Karat CEO Jen-Frederick Nadeau described the certification as the foundation for “bringing our products to patients in Europe more directly and quickly.” Cantourage Group CEO Philip Schetter said the company is focused on “building a more flexible and resilient supply chain” by sponsoring partners through the certification process.
The operational rationale is straightforward. As Cantourage certifies more cultivation partners, shifting production steps to EU-GMP-certified growers gives the company greater flexibility across its value chain, opens up additional manufacturing capacity, and reduces operational concentration risk. Each certified partner expands the company’s production base without requiring facility ownership.
For Cantourage, the Green Karat arrangement is less a one-off milestone than a replicable template. By anchoring its European growth strategy around exclusive certified supply agreements, rather than direct facility ownership, the company is assembling a distribution infrastructure designed to scale alongside its partner network. If the certifications currently in progress close on schedule, Cantourage enters 2027 with a meaningfully wider production base and a lower exposure to single-source risk than it carried at the start of this year. In a market where pharmaceutical-grade compliance increasingly separates serious operators from the rest, that kind of supply chain architecture tends to compound over time.
