Curaleaf Launches Hemp-Only Retail Store in Florida Following Cannabis Legalization Setback

LOS ANGELES- In the aftermath of Florida’s unsuccessful bid to legalize recreational cannabis, Curaleaf Holdings, Inc. has inaugurated its first hemp-exclusive retail outlet, The Hemp Company, in West Palm Beach. This establishment offers hemp-derived THC products to adults aged 21 and over without the requirement of a medical cannabis card.

Situated at 300 Clematis Street, The Hemp Company operates daily, with extended hours on weekends, and plans to introduce local delivery services. The store’s inventory includes Curaleaf’s Select™ hemp-derived THC products, such as Zero Proof Seltzer and FormulaX energy drinks, alongside offerings from third-party brands like 1906, Artet, and Cann.

This strategic move follows the failure of Florida’s Amendment 3 in November 2024, which did not achieve the 60% voter approval needed to legalize recreational cannabis. By converting a former medical cannabis dispensary into a hemp-focused retail space, Curaleaf aims to navigate the state’s regulatory landscape while continuing to serve the adult-use market.

The Hemp Company exemplifies Curaleaf’s approach to adapt to evolving cannabis regulations, providing access to hemp-derived THC products within the legal framework established by the 2018 Farm Bill. This initiative reflects a broader trend among cannabis companies to explore alternative avenues in response to shifting legislative environments.
