Highly Capitalized Network Proudly Announces: New Vice President of Business Development: John Baker

John Baker’s career has spanned several dynamic industries, from music and activism to SaaS sales, but his passion for cannabis has been unwavering. While attending college in Washington, DC, and playing music, John was inspired by legalization advocate Adam Eidinger and events like the annual White House Smoke-In. This led him to volunteer with his local college chapters of NORML and SSDP.

After graduating and relocating to the Bay Area, John immersed himself in the craft and business side of cannabis, learning from some of the best growers. His journey led him to cross paths with Steve DeAngelo of Harborside in Oakland, where he saw the future of cannabis retail.

John then moved to Texas for love, where he raised a family with his incredible wife. During this time, he ventured into software sales, quickly becoming a top Account Executive at a social media marketing firm acquired by GoDaddy. He continued his sales career, managing teams in the insurance and compliance industries.

Returning to New York City, John delved into Business Development in the financial industry while reconnecting with the cannabis scene. He organized events to highlight the city’s cultivars, speakeasies, and infused-dining experiences. 

Collaborating with CAURD licensee Mario Ramos, John created charity events for the Last Prisoner Project, a non-profit focused on releasing individuals wrongfully imprisoned for cannabis. He also founded NYC Toker’s Club to connect New Yorkers with top-quality cannabis products and has submitted an application for a New York State Micro-Business License.

Now, John is thrilled to join Highly Capitalized Network (HCN) to leverage his expertise in Business Development and the cannabis industry. He aims to build up the business and strengthen HCN’s presence on the East Coast. John will also host the weekly show “Business Unusual with John Baker,” offering insights into the cannabis and other alternative industries.
