Massachusetts Orders Cease on THCV Products by Hemp Company
LOS ANGELES- The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) has issued a cease and desist order to Bay State Extracts, a state-licensed hemp business, directing it to stop the production and sale of products containing the cannabinoid THCV. The state agency declared that such products are illegal under current state law. The CEO of Bay State Extracts, John Nathan, expressed his concern over the order on LinkedIn, stating the cannabinoid in question is naturally occurring and nonintoxicating. He emphasized that the regulatory approach taken by MDAR could severely disrupt the THCV supply chain and impact the broader Massachusetts hemp industry adversely. Nathan has announced plans to appeal the order, arguing against what he perceives as a misclassification of THCV by state authorities.
