LOS ANGELES- A Denver District Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Mammoth Farms against the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED), ruling that the cannabis cultivator must pursue regulatory changes through administrative channels rather than the judiciary.

Mammoth Farms, a prominent cannabis operator based in Saguache, Colorado, alleged that the MED failed to enforce regulations against companies diverting legal cannabis into illicit markets and utilizing synthetic cannabinoids in their products. The company contended that such practices undermined the integrity of the state’s regulated cannabis industry and adversely affected compliant businesses.

In its complaint, Mammoth Farms sought a preliminary injunction compelling the MED to implement stricter enforcement measures and enhance tracking protocols. However, on May 15, 2025, the court denied the request and dismissed the case, citing a lack of subject matter jurisdiction. The court emphasized that Mammoth Farms had not exhausted administrative remedies, such as formally petitioning the MED for rule changes, before seeking judicial intervention .

The MED responded to the ruling by reaffirming its commitment to regulatory oversight and consumer protection. The agency highlighted ongoing investigations into the use of chemically derived tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in regulated marijuana products and reiterated its dedication to enforcing compliance within the industry .
